The study

The study OF·27 cites is a 12-week, single-blind, vehicle-controlled trichoscopy study of the active. It was conducted by Abich S.r.l., an accredited testing laboratory in Italy, under reference REL/0504/2026, in 40 women with diffuse thinning. It was commissioned and funded by Core Biogenesis, the developer of the active.

What was tested.

The active, in a simple vehicle, against the same vehicle without the active.

How it was designed.

Density was measured by trichoscopy (Note 08). Vehicle-controlled means the active was compared against an identical base without it. Single-blind means participants did not know which they were using. Measurements were taken at 4 timepoints over 84 days. 40 participants, split equally between active and vehicle.

What it found.

At week 12, hair density in the active group was 33.5% above its own baseline (p < 0.0001). In the vehicle group it was 7.2% above baseline, which was not statistically significant. The study also reported at week 12: anagen-to-telogen ratio +17.0% (between groups, p = 0.0005), mean shaft diameter +10.6% (vs baseline, p = 0.0027), scalp hydration +22.2% (between groups, p < 0.0001) and transepidermal water loss −27.2% (vs baseline). No serious adverse events were reported.

Where it stops.

40 people is a defined sample, not a population. 12 weeks is the whole record; there is no data beyond it. The participants were women with diffuse thinning; men and other forms of hair loss were not studied. It was single-blind and single-centre, not a multi-centre trial. The figures are group averages; individual results ranged from no change to a large change.
